AI vs manual tester: where is the line?

At every QA meetup in 2026 I get the same question from QA managers: 'Will AI tools take our jobs?' The answer, which isn't comforting but is true: some parts of the work yes, others never. This article draws the line precisely.

Where AI fails (and will for a long time)

  • Usability and UX assessment. 'This flow is technically correct but frustrating' is a subjective judgement. AI can't learn it without a huge amount of labeled data, which doesn't exist for your application.
